Sally Torrens gained a top-five placing while another Gunnedah horse trainer, Gavin Groth, gained a top-six placing in Monday’s race meet in Tamworth.

Conditions were trying due to rainy weather, which prompted the track rating to change repeatedly before the latter four of the eight races were abandoned.

The Torrens-trained and Clayton Gallagher-ridden Just Breathe placed fifth out of 11 in the opening race, which was 1400m while the track rating was a Soft 6.

Having been the equal-third favourite, Just Breathe finished 5.4 lengths behind the victor.

In the following race, the Torrens-trained and Gallagher-ridden Ready To Mingle came eighth out of 12 as the distance was 1000m while the track rating was a Soft 7.

Ready To Mingle finished eight lengths behind the winner, after being the equal-sixth favourite.

The track rating was changed to a Heavy 8 for race three, which was 1200m.

In the third race, the Groth-trained and Jess Taylor-ridden Fort Jefferson placed sixth out of 10 despite finishing only 1.8 lengths behind the first placegetter.

Fort Jefferson entered the race as the seventh favourite.
