Spotlight: Jazz Appreciation Month and Make It!
Did you know April is Jazz Appreciation Month? While we’re far from a dive bar in New Orleans, we can always pretend and appreciate the art form.
Come and get ready for Easter at Make It! on Wednesday, April 9 at 3.30pm. We’ll be making painted Easter pots (which will be perfect for storing your chocolate loot!). Bookings are essential for these $3 craft sessions. Call us on 6740 2190.
Spotlight: R & R
The library has nearly 30 magazines to borrow. Popular titles include Better Homes & Gardens, Country Style, Women’s Weekly, Gardening Australia, and New Idea (for your hit of royal gossip, of course.) Borrowing magazines means they won’t collect dust on your side table, and best of all, we can photocopy pages you’d like to keep for a small fee.
If you’d prefer a paperless magazine experience, there are plenty of them to borrow in Hoopla with BingePass.
Spotlight: New books
New to graphic novels is Friends, Witches and Monsters (JF WIN) from the Winx Club franchise.
In this second installment, Bloom continues to build strong friendships at Fairy school in Magix, with her superpowered girlfriends, while battling scary monsters, and wicked witches — all the while becoming stronger herself and finding the true meaning of friendship.
Capturing the Essence (751 COO) from William T. Cooper is perfect for artists.
The author takes the reader through the processes involved in oil painting, watercolour and acrylic techniques. While the book concentrates on birds, much of the general basics will be relevant to painting a wide variety of natural history and wildlife subjects.
From bestselling author Roisin Meaney comes Moving On (AFR MEA).
Hopeless romantic and big dreamer Ellen is finally moving on from her hometown. She takes a job in a Galway bookshop, and a bookseller named Ben finds her between the dusty bookshelves and quiet afternoons. But she also has Leo of London- a charming, attentive city banker, and her childhood friend, Danny, to consider on the romance front. If home is where the heart is, where will Ellen’s lead her?
Come and find some romance between the pages at your local library!
New titles at Gunnedah Shire Library include Capturing the Essence from William T. Cooper which is perfect for artists, and graphic novel from the Winx Club franchise, Friends, Witches and Monsters.
