Gunnedah snapped up two of the top three prizes on offer in the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service ‘Cost of Living’ raffle.

Neville Steele and Bert Hewitt were among the lucky winners.

The raffle was run by the service’s volunteer support groups, opshops and support teams from July to November.

It was held off the back of its earlier raffle held from February to June this year. These raffles covered an area from the Hawkesbury River, north to the Queensland border and out west to Wee Waa, Narrabri, Coonabarabran and Moree.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter’s volunteers and retail manager Steve Adams said: “It was decided early this year that we wanted to contribute back to the communities that have supported our service for 50 years and so a raffle with prizes that would assist the community was devised and by calling it a cost of living raffle we knew the community would engage strongly with us in our commitment to assist them in some small way.

“We hope to continue in our endeavours next year so look out for the next raffle in February or March 2024”.

“Thank you to everyone who supports the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service in helping to keep the helicopters flying.”
