Three people died when a car crashed south of Gunnedah yesterday.
Emergency services responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash about 6.30am on Wednesday, closing the Kamilaroi Highway, near Curlewis, about 20km south of Gunnedah.
Three back-seat passengers died at the scene. They were yet to be formally identified; however, are believed to be two women and one man, all aged in their 20s.
The driver– a 24-year-old man – suffered an arm and chest injury and was being treated at Tamworth Hospital, as well as undergoing mandatory testing. The front passenger – a woman – was treated by NSW
Ambulance paramedics before she was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
Officers attached to the Oxley Police District established a crime scene and an investigation commenced with the assistance of specialist officers attached to the crash investigation unit. A report will be prepared for Coroner.
