Julia Donaldson’s books took the Gunnedah Shire Library by storm during the final weeks of its school holiday program.

She is the author behind some of the most recognisable children’s books of today including The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child and Room on the Broom.

On theme was a trivia afternoon last Wednesday which stretched children’s knowledge of the author’s fictional universes along with other activities such as colouring in, brain games, puzzles and a seek and find.

Children were invited to dress up as their favourite characters from the Donaldson books and join in the activities.

Gunnedah Shire Council’s Susan Frater helped judge the winners of the afternoon.

It was Thomas Beer who took out the prizes for his seek and find and winning trivia.

Children left with their choice of interactive book.

Previous days of Crafty Creations were committed to bringing the theme to life inside the library.

Ladybird hotels from What the Ladybird Heard, felt hoops of The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom collages and Julia Donaldson dioramas were made during Crafty Creations while cats from Room on the Broom were created by children attending Book Buddies.
