It was a great honour but also very humbling to receive the Citizen of the Year award at the Australia Day dinner and I would like to thank the Australia Day committee for planning such a great and entertaining evening, with so many of our wonderful residents, young and old, acknowledged for their achievements and contribution to the community. My thanks also go to the person who nominated me for the award, you are a very thoughtful and considerate member of our community.
To have our own conservatorium choir sing with ambassador Todd McKenney was a real treat. Todd was very entertaining, relaxed and approachable and we all appreciated his willingness to chat and have photos taken. Our own bush poet Murray Hartin is always good value and it all added up to a fantastic celebration of Australia Day.
Gunnedah is a great town and that is why I still live here.
