Gunnedah is set to host a truly spectacular jazz event as celebrated vocalist Emma Pask graces the stage for the Jazz Picnic at Gunnible on Sunday, March 10. The classic era jazz performance promises to leave audiences spellbound with Pask’s mesmerising voice and captivating renditions of timeless jazz standards.

Hosted by the esteemed Gunnedah Conservatorium, the event is set to draw jazz enthusiasts and music connoisseurs from across the region to Gunnible. Emma Pask’s remarkable talent and extraordinary vocal range have earned her a well-deserved reputation as one of Australia’s leading jazz artists, and her performance at the Gunnedah Jazz Picnic is anticipated to be a memorable experience for all in attendance.

Emma Pask’s soulful interpretations of classic jazz favourites pay homage to the rich musical heritage of the genre, and her performances have consistently enraptured audiences with their depth, emotion, and artistry. With an impressive repertoire that spans the golden era of jazz, her renditions breathe new life into beloved standards, transporting listeners to a bygone era of elegance and sophistication.

“We are thrilled to have Emma Pask opening our 2024 concerts series and headlining our Jazz Picnic event at Gunnible,” Gunnedah Conservatorium director Rebecca Ryan said. “She has always had a great following here and following all the excitement around James Morrisons’ concert at the end of the year, there’s some symmetry we are opening our season with Emma who was discovered by and has toured the world with Morrison. I hope people will come along and see why Morrison says of Emma, ‘while it’s fashionable to be a jazz singer these days, she’s the real thing.”

Emma will perform with pianist Bill Risby – highly regarded by many as one of the most accomplished pianists in jazz, improvised and popular music. He has toured the world playing his own music, has 12 albums to his name, and is on the Ponca Jazz recording label (Norway), and Universal Music.

The Gunnedah Jazz Picnic is part of the Conservatorium’s ongoing commitment to promoting musical excellence and providing enriching cultural experiences for the community. The event is an opportunity for jazz aficionados and music lovers to come together, enjoy an afternoon of world-class entertainment, and revel in the timeless allure of classic jazz.
