One of the Gunnedah Times’ longest-serving paperboys, Daniel Piper, is hanging up the delivery whistle.
The Carinya Christian School student has delivered papers to his loyal subscribers since November 2022 but decided the time was right to hand over the paper run.
“It has been a lot of fun,” he said, adding that extra pocket money and bike exercise was a good incentive.
Mum Joanne was proud how her son had developed his independence in the role and said he was only leaving due to soccer refereeing commitments.
Dan completed his final paper run last week alongside new starter Tom Beer, who is taking over his deliveries.
Gunnedah Times editor Sam Woods said Dan has been an integral part of the paper delivery team and will be sorely missed.
“Thanks for your efforts Dan, I know your subscribers always spoke highly of the courteous and conscientious approach to your work,” he said.
If your child would like to become a paper delivery person, or you would like to take out a subscription or arrange for the paper to be delivered to your home or business, contact the Gunnedah Times on 5700 3815 or call into the office at 179 Conadilly Street. The paper costs $2.50 a copy of which .50c goes to our paper boys and girls.
