Debutantes shine bright at Rotary ball

Twenty-one debutantes and their partners participated in the 48th Gunnedah West Rotary Debutante Ball last Friday. The Gunnedah Town Hall was decorated in twinkling lights to emulate the theme of a Starry Night. The young men and women spent weeks learning dances choreographed by Jason Elliott. They performed the traditional Pride of Erin Waltz to Iris and danced to House Party. The crowd adored flower girl Brielle and page boy Freddie, daughter and son of Murray and Sarah O’Keefe. Push for more ‘social prescribing’ in the regions

Rural and regional health advocates are calling on government and health providers to boost social prescribing in non-metropolitan parts of Australia, like Gunnedah. Social prescribing involves health professionals, including GPs, supporting patients to consider and take up non-medical activities to supplement other types of care and treatment, such as joining a community group or trying a new hobby.
