Gunnedah Public School’s Miss Karla shaving her hair as part of the fundraising effort for Sadie Streater’s fight against cancer.

It was the end of three-year hair-growing journey for Gunnedah Public School captain, Haakon Williams.

The youngster’s prized ‘mullet’ hairstyle faced the chop on Friday – all in the name of a good cause.

Money raised from Haakon’s mullet growing and subsequent haircut will go towards Gunnedah girl Sadie Streater’s fight against cancer.

Earlier this year, Sadie was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma – a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Sadie’s family has been a big part of the Gunnedah Public School community.

To help with the fundraising efforts, Haakon decided to shave his prized mullet – the long locks which had become the envy of his peers over the last three years.

Meanwhile, Miss Karla from Gunnedah Public School also agreed to colour and later shave her hair as well, with donations made by the school throughout the day.
