Gunnedah’s St Mary’s College of yesteryear, the students from 1973 to 1978, celebrated their 50-year high school anniversary.
The celebration was held at Gunnedah’s Rugby Park and attended by about 40 guests consisting of the students and their partners.
The reunion saw people travel far and wide for the event – as far north across the Queensland border from Townsville and south to the NSW town of Bowral – reminiscing and rekindling their graduation from St Mary’s College high school from their former years between 1973 to 1978.
Nostalgia was evident through old St Mary’s school uniforms worn during the era on display and it was an evening spent by attendees casting their memories back to their teenage era.
School photos from the period and a memoir of names was on display upon entrance for the evening, casting the attendees memories back to those they had attended the college with 50 years prior.
A memorial was also on display through a slideshow, honouring the loss of 14 class mates since those high school days 50 years ago.
In combination with the old sisters of mercy catalogues and past pupils books from the time, the Sisters themselves attended, chatting with the students they taught.
