Long standing Gunnedah organisation, Two Rivers Arts Council is pleased to hold the Gunnedah Country Markets each month.

Held on the third Saturday, local and regional small businesses come together in Wolseley Park, showcasing a vast display of handmade goods including jewellery, toys, plants, jams, cut and polished gems, wood and metal work, fruit, veggies and more. Locals can enjoy a hot coffee and locally made sausage sandwich while hunting for that perfect bargain.

But with the markets running only one day in the month, TRAC has developed a way for the Gunnedah community to enjoy the fun of the hunt all month round.

Hiding in plain sight, the TRAC THE HAT campaign encourages community members to seek and find the Two Rivers Arts Council’s logo, a little jester’s hat, in local stores, on members shirts while they shop and even in car windows, stuck to mail boxes… THE HAT could be anywhere!

People spotting the hat then simply need head along to the Gunnedah Country Markets and tell the market coordinator where they saw the hat, to go in the draw to win prizes, drawn that day, provided by participating stores.

The market’s marketing officer, Jade Punch, said the campaign aimed to engage the community within the CBD and boost numbers to the market event each month.

“Not only could people be eligible to enter just by going about their daily business in the main street, a seek and find activity is always a fun way to occupy the children while you do your chores,” Ms Punch said.

“We have been very grateful to our small local businesses for being part of the fun and allowing us to put our hats in their windows. It will even count toward an entry if people say they saw it in the Gunnedah Times!”

As an added bonus for families participating in the fun, a free face painting stand for children at the markets could decorate faces with THE HAT, making you part of the campaign itself!
