Thomas Rosenzweig is preparing to paddle the Namoi River in a kayak from Warrabah to Manilla later this month.

All going to plan, the Gunnedah handyman anticipates to complete the 51km journey in just one day.

“I expect I’ll have sore arms and back by the end of it,” Mr Rosenzweig said.

The journeyman has fielded interest from several others who will join him for the trip later this month but it’s not his first foray into the kayaking discipline.

In fact, Mr Rosenzweig has completed several other extensive tours of the local river system.

This included previous stints paddling from Carroll to Gunnedah in a four-person canoe as well as a solo effort from Lake Keepit to Gunnedah and another trip from Gunnedah to Boggabri – the latter he reached his destination just on dark.

With preparations underway for his next voyage, Mr Rosenzweig is on the lookout for several more serviceable kayaks for use by his travelling companions for the Manilla trip.
