Gunnedah Health and Fitness Co has been behind the Lake Keepit Commando to raise money during Mental Health Week, but this year saw an additional fundraiser from the gym.
People stopped by the candy bar for some hot popcorn before settling in for two screenings of a digital presentation by the Resilience Project.
The donated lecture conducted by founder Hugh van Cuylenburg, equipped viewers with ‘tools’ to help with mental health and resilience.
Viewers had to complete tasks to build upon those resilience skills.
The mental health group aims to build resilience and assist in helping people find happiness and emotional wellness by reaching schools, sports clubs and businesses.
GHFC was grateful to have had a digital presentation donated for its fundraising efforts during the week.
Maryanne Perkins was surprised that many had not heard of Hugh, but she did find the presentation was well received by those in attendance.
“I have followed [Hugh] for years and heard him speak quite a few times and still love it every time,” she said.
“I am not saying it is going to fix everything, but it just reminds people that those simple tools you can do easily are really effective and this mental toolkit that Hugh provides in his talk is such a powerful thing for people to take away.”
Maryanne encouraged people to look at the Resilience Project and hop on board with the mud run next year along with implementing some of the simple things that everyone can all do to help each other.
The two events have been predicted to bring an additional $15,000 to Gunnedah Family Support.
