Gunnedah won last weekend’s golf against Wauchope at the Gunnedah course, but it wasn’t enough to win this year’s Shield after the clubs hosted a weekend each.
Wauchope led by 17 matches to six after Gunnedah’s visit back in March, before Gunnedah won 11 matches to eight at home.
Forty-two players travelled from Wauchope last weekend, while Gunnedah had 46 players which meant two Gunnedah pairs opposed each other.
The course was presented in great condition after the greens staff had a lot of extra work to do last Saturday morning, following the previous night’s storm.
Saturday’s event was a 4-Ball Best Ball (4BBB), before the teams played a 4-men Ambrose the following day.
Round one of next year’s event will be at Wauchope on March 8-9, before Gunnedah hosts the return round on October 18-19.
