Gunnedah was last week treated to an intimate performance by internationally-renowned concert pianist, Jeonghwan Kim.

The exceptional young artist from Seoul, South Korea, delivered a mesmerising, 70-minute recital featuring Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, Bela Bartok and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Having played at some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world, Jeonghwan wowed the Gunnedah audience with a bold, powerful performance.

Jeonghwan was hosted at The Civic by the Gunnedah Conservatorium in association with Sydney-based company, Piano Plus.

“It was fantastic to see such a musician of his calibre and to host him in The Civic with an audience featuring a mix of people of all ages,” Conservatorium director Rebecca Ryan said.

“We always want to bring a program of the best artists, that’s what we really strive for and it’s great to be able to do that with Piano Plus.”

Coming up soon, the Conservatorium will host brass-funk ensemble from Sydney, Hot Potato Band. The band is planning to hold music workshops with schools and a concert while in Gunnedah.

In early November, the Conservatorium will host ‘Frente Trio’ at The Civic. Audiences can expect their favourite tunes, a test run of a new song or two and a ridiculous obscurity thrown in for good measure.
