The former proprietors of the North Western Courier (Gunnedah Times, The Courier and Wee Waa News) were presented with an Appreciation Award for Conscientious Service to Country Newspapers.

The award was presented by Country Press NSW president Lucie Peart and council member (and Courier general manager/editor) Dylan Smith at the association’s presentation night on Friday in Dubbo.

Ian and Wanda Dunnet started the Gunnedah Times in 2020.

“To be able to have a newspaper and serve the community is the ultimate service, in my opinion,” Mrs Dunnet said on the night.

“We are very proud of what we have achieved and it has been a pleasure to work with our
communities.”

The group’s general manager and editor, Mr Smith, was also thanked for his contribution to country newspapers.

Gunnedah Times’ sister publication, The Courier, won the ‘Best Front Page Over 700 Copies’, ‘Best News Coverage’, runner up for ‘Best House Advertisement’ and runner up for the ‘Best Sports Photo’.
