About $8000 was raised for Can Assist Gunnedah as more than 100 people took part in the Gunnedah Motorcycle Club’s annual golf day last Sunday.
There were 26 teams in the four-person Ambrose as there was a mix of golfers and non-golfers, while there were many regulars from the event as well as some newcomers.
Nearly half of the participants were from the Gunnedah Motorcycle Club (GMCC), which has run the event for about 10 years.
BMW placed first while Burga was runner-up, followed by Carter/Forman, Kellaher, Buddy, and Gunny Laundry.
Farran Lamb won the popular longest drive on the first hole, and the event also included a barbecue lunch, raffles and an auction.
GMCC spokesperson Dale Holmes, who was on The Printery team, said it was a laidback and fun day which wasn’t taken too seriously while funds were raised for a worthy cause.
“It’s about giving back to the local community,” he said.
Can Assist Gunnedah secretary Linda Lee said it was a great day with an “awesome result”.
“We are just truly grateful for being chosen by the Gunnedah Motorcycle Club,” she said.
Linda also said it was great to see the community as a whole support Can Assist, as funding allowed Can Assist to support people affected by cancer.
