The glitz and glamour of race day filled the air as Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club members celebrated the Melbourne Cup at the November dinner meeting.
It may have been a day after the ‘race that stops the nation’ but the trusty steeds lined up for the start created much fun and laughter as the ‘jockeys’ reeled them in on a string.
Created by program officer Kerry Keating, the overall event was won by Linda Lee, with Jeanette Hinshelwood and Gwen Coddington filling the minor placings.
Vice president Judy Sills presented 10-year service badges to Jan Bennett and Beryl Schillert.
Horses for the sweeps were hidden in envelopes and purchased by members with the actual winners of the Cup raced the previous day receiving the cash prizes.
Dubbed Ladies Day at the Races, members dressed for the occasion with stylish outfits, hats and fascinators.
