Robertson Real Estate celebrated its fifth birthday earlier this month, which coincided with another significant milestone.

On Monday, November 6, 2019 Lauren and Ben Robertson opened their real estate business, which also happened to be their wedding anniversary date.

“By the time we had everything set up, it just happened to be a Monday and that was our anniversary,” Lauren said.

This year was a big milestone for the couple – 20 years married.

Ben and Lauren met in Sydney in 1998 when they worked together in the tourism and hospitality industry for a high end destination management company.

While having a beer with Lauren’s father, Don Ewing, and discussing how sick of Sydney they were, he suggested they come home to Gunnedah and work for him.

Their intention was to stay for six months, but more than 20 years later, the couple is still living in the community and looking after its real estate.

That is how Lauren and Ben found their passion for real estate.

“We love Gunnedah. Ben and I have been heavily involved in the community since we got here,” she said.

Between the business and the couple’s personal involvements, they have been a part of the Gunnedah Tennis Club, Gunnedah Cycling and Triathlon Club, Rotary 2380, Gunnedah Gymnastics Club, PRAMS and many more organisations.

“We like helping people.”

The staff have been busy since Robertson Real Estate first opened. Between COVID, rental shortages and an influx of mining activity, the industry’s growth in Gunnedah has kept them working hard and growing.

“The market is very strong and it feels like we have not stopped in five years,” Lauren said.

Robertson Real Estate has a fresh take on real estate combined with the knowledge and expertise of decades in the local market.

The couple can proudly state they have been in the industry for more than two decades and were taught by people with 50 years of experience.

The two owners compliment each other nicely, with Lauren in sales and Ben in property management.

They take pride in using new marketing innovations such as virtual tours an advertised highlight their best features and the latest in property management software so their clients and their properties are well looked after.

Customer service and after hours help are very important to all staff at Robertson Real Estate.

“This is a service industry and it is very important to provide that service at all times,” Lauren said.

“Getting back to people, whether it’s their email, phone call or text, is a big deal for Ben and I.

“Real estate is a huge investment for people and they really want to give their properties to somebody who is going to make the right decisions on their behalf.”
