A European white Christmas in Australia was celebrated by Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club members at ‘The Bowlo’ last Wednesday night, with many stunning white outfits making a show – without the fur coats.

With Christmas carols playing in the background, members celebrated the end of another successful year of fund-raising for disadvantaged students through The Smith Family charity’s Learning for Life program.

Special guest Mary Hollingworth, from Glen Innes, visited the club for the first time in her new role as zone councillor.

She was invited to cut the celebratory Christmas cake – a European style gingerbread man, made by member Kerry Keating.

With paper snowflakes adorning the Christmas tree, enhanced by candy canes and giant pretzels, the highlight of the evening was the arrival of twin Christmas ‘elves’ Georgia and Harry Hobson, who handed out the presents to secret Friends in VIEW. These ‘friends’ will be revealed at the annual general meeting in February.

In return, the elves were presented with a Christmas gift by vice-president, Judy Sills.
