Gunnedah swimmers recorded some excellent results as they braved hot and challenging conditions at last month’s Narrabri carnival.
Head coach Colin Marley was pleased with the huge turnout of 27 swimmers from all levels in his squad.
Swimming in 40-degree heat just before Christmas, the squad collected numerous gold, silver and bronze medals.
It was a great hit-out for the team as the swimmers prepared for a heavy long course season with school, Country Regionals, NSW Country and State competitions coming up.
“There were numerous best times and it was a great commitment by all kids who did their best and barracked for their team members,” Marley said.
Meanwhile, 13-year-old Alexis Whitton wrapped up her NSW Senior State Age campaign in December with an impressive seven personal best times from seven individual races.
Swimming for Knox Pymble, Alexis collected a silver medal in the 50m freestyle with a time of 27.37 and broke the one-minute barrier in her 100m freestyle to finish fifth in the final.
Alexis’s medley and freestyle club relay teams also finished in the top 10.
