Spotlight: Welcome to 2025!
A belated Happy New Year to all our patrons and borrowers. We are excited for another year of reading, learning, and networking at the library. We have dived right into the action with our summer school holiday program already, but next week we have got melty beads, collages, silhouette painting, plus Book Buddies and Music with Meg on Wednesday, January 15, at 10.30am. Don’t forget about our Seek and Find, too!
For more information or to book into our craft sessions, call us on 6740 2190.
Spotlight: Spaces and Faces
If you need somewhere other than the supermarket to cool down this summer, come to the library! We have comfortable chairs, free wi-fi, computer access, a storypod (it is a cool green thing with games and tales for the kids), plus enough reading material for several lifetimes. The only thing missing is you!
We are open 9.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 9.30am – 1pm on Saturday.
Spotlight: New books
Heartthrob Mitchell Burns has released his autobiography, Life Camera Action (770 BUR).
It took ten years in the coal mines for Mitchell Burns to realise that no pay cheque is worth sacrificing your dreams. Now he’s making up for lost time.
With no blueprint for success, he turned away from mining to forge his own path in photography. In a vulnerable moment, he posted online about taking the leap – the now-viral video has inspired millions of people around the world not to give up on their goals.
Wild Creature Mind (152 BID) by Steve Biddulph is new to our self-help section.
We have our normal mind, which overthinks, rattles about and gets defensive. And we have the real us – our complex, super-intelligent Wild Creature Mind, full of life, insight and empathy. These two minds are meant to work as a team, but in our busy modern society, we’ve all but forgotten how to listen to our Wild Creature Mind.
In the midst of the world’s worst mental health crisis, Steve shows how adults, teens and even young children can use their intricate gut feelings to overcome anxiety, grow strong boundaries, and to heal and be whole again.
For the travellers, come and borrow The Travel Book (910 TRA) from Lonely Planet.
Expert insider knowledge accompanies every country featured in this definitive guide and provides the best time of year to visit as well as must-see and do experiences recommended by Lonely Planet writers. There are even suggestions on the best books to read, music to listen to, and food to eat, so that readers can get further under the skin of the world we live in.
Come and say hello at your local library!
