Only three Tamworth District Cricket Association (TDCA) first grade T20 contests took place in Gunnedah last Saturday while the other three fixtures in town were abandoned because of wet weather.

The contests which began at 10am were completed, before rain set in around the 2pm starting time for the remaining matches.

As the Old Boys outfit demolished Gunnedah at Kitchener Park, City United edged out South Tamworth by two wickets at Wolseley Park while Bective East thumped North Tamworth by 67 runs at McAndrew Park.

In the afternoon game at Kitchener Park, returning Gunnedah captain Andy Mack won the toss and chose to bat before the arrival of rain prompted the stumps to be pulled at 2.10pm.

It was the second time this season that a fixture involving Gunnedah and South Tamworth was abandoned; disappointing for both teams which had had only one win each this season and would have been hopeful of notching another one.

The two other afternoon games in Gunnedah last Saturday had a start, before being aborted due to the weather.

Bective East reached 0-21 in four overs against City United at Wolseley Park, while North Tamworth was 0-22 after two overs against Old Boys at McAndrew Park.
