Gunnedah Day VIEW Club members gathered for their first meeting recently with the election of office bearers for 2025 wrapped in an Australia Day theme.

Members welcomed national councillor Aletia Norman who conducted the elections.

President Joan Harwood read her very comprehensive report of the past year and was returned to the position unopposed.

Other committee members elected include Denise Hockley (vice president), Debbie Harkins (secretary) Trish Conway (treasurer), Judy Mitchell (assistant), Ro Eveleigh (delegate), Shail Mitchell (assistant), Shirley Hall Chris Mirow and Lorraine Barwick (program officers). It was the first time the committee has been filled for several years. Trish Conway and Ro Eveleigh were absent from the meeting but had previously accepted their nominations.

Judy Mitchell was presented with a certificate of appreciation by national councillor Aletia Norman for 100 per cent attendance over the past year.

President Joan Harwood was pleased with the attendance at the meeting as 28 members enjoyed renewing friendships after the holiday break

“We have gained 14 members in the past 12 months,” Joan said.

“Everyone loves hearing our guest speakers as well as our social days out enjoying lunch at different places – a good chance for them to get together to socialise and have fun too.

“We have four Learning for Life students we support through The Smith Family charity.

“We received five reports from our students letting us know their progress and how our support is helping them – one Year 12 student finished.”
