Today, I wish all our friends who may be impacted by the cyclone all the best – I hope you, your loved ones and your home remain safe.

In Gunnedah, it’s possible we might see some rain from the edge of this weather event.

It’s a busy time in Gunnedah shire, with the Weeks of Speed starting last weekend. It was wonderful to see so many people in town for the official opening.

The street parade, the show ‘n’ shine, the hot rod display, speedway racing, motorkhana and Clash of the Sirens were all held on the weekend.

The Weeks of Speed includes many events over March. Still to come are the fishing competition at Lake Keepit, the Railway Hotel Cup at Balcary Park, drag races at Gunnedah Airport, the NSW AWPA Whipcracking Titles at Wolseley Park, the Billy Boiling Championships of NSW at the Railway Hotel, cycling, music and the markets.

To look at the whole program, you can visit the Weeks of Speed page on Facebook.

I was also fortunate enough to be at the sold-out March Muster line dancing event in Curlewis on the weekend. This was another great event in our shire.

On Friday night, the International Women’s Day Exhibition opened at the Gunnedah Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery, with work by some of our talented local artists on display.

It is really worth having a look at this exhibition which will be open until Friday, April 4.

Also coming up is the 2025 Youth Expo.

This annual event hosted by Gunnedah Shire Council is a wonderful way for young people to find out more about the many options available to them when they are considering their future paths.

The Youth Expo will be held at Gunnedah Town Hall on Thursday, April 10 and will include stalls by employers, organisations and tertiary education providers encouraging students to take a look at what the world has to offer.

There is still time for stallholders to apply. Applications forms are available online gunnedah.nsw.gov.au via the ‘latest news and media’ link.
