Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club members celebrated International Women’s Day at the March meeting with an Irish ‘touch of green’ for St Patrick’s Day.
Program officer Kerry Keating encouraged the close-knit group of friends to ‘tell their story’ sharing ‘what they had achieved in their life’.
The women were given the opportunity to be truly invested in the moment, and many beautiful stories were shared.
The resounding message was “that you never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have”.
President Kate Knight also spoke some inspiring words about VIEW – 65 years of connecting local women while supporting children in need.
An important fundraiser for the club’s disadvantaged Learning for Life students will be catering for the GoCo movie day on March 20, and another on August 14. Members are asked to deliver food to The Civic by 11.30am.
Next month’s dinner meeting will be a celebration of Easter, including an Easter Bonnet and a special guest speaker in Dr Sarah Woodford, who grew up in Gunnedah and is now a registrar at Barber Street Practice.
Dr Woodford completed training in paediatrics and emergency before transitioning to general practice and is pleased to be back in her old hometown. Dr Woodford will speak on the topic of women’s health matters.
Stacey McAllan will be the guest speaker for May.
