Mannion Drilling was too strong for Sign Print Stitch (SPS) in the U13 cricket grand final at Donnelly Fields last Friday.

With seven players per team in the 20-overs-per-side fixture, SPS was dismissed for 122 in 19.2 overs before Mannion passed the target in just 12 overs without losing a wicket.

SPS was a wicket down without a run scored as Joe Swain held a catch off Alex Jensen from the third ball of the match.

Kallie Walters and Allie Neilsen hit a series of fours before Harry Langdon produced a great piece of fielding in the fourth over as he ran out Allie with a direct hit.

Parker Seach struck next as he rattled Tommy Sheridan’s stumps, before Nicholas Swain pushed the score along.

Kallie reached 23 before being lbw to Matthew Leys, and Nicholas retired on 24 before James Perrett and Thomas Hathway kept the runs flowing.

Joe captured the final two wickets from successive balls as James was lbw from a delivery which struck him a painful blow on the foot, before Arthur Graham reached high at point to catch Nicholas.

Mannion conceded 19 runs from wides, seven from no-balls and eight from byes before SPS conceded 11 from wides, 12 from no-balls and 16 from byes.

Joe cleared the boundary with the first ball of the run chase, before the remainder of the over yielded six runs in other ways.

The total raced past 50 in the fifth over, before 21 runs in the eighth over took the total to 89.

The score was 0-99 after nine overs, and 0-116 after 10 as there was no way to halt the run flow.

Harry top-scored with 34 not out at number three, while openers Joe and Parker made unbeaten scores of 27 and 15 respectively.

Arthur made nine not out, while Matthew finished on two not out.

In the other U13 fixture, the fourth-placed Hennessy Real Estate finished the season with a 30-run win against the third-placed Stripes Engineering.

Lucy also scored 20 not out while the top score for Stripes was 39 from opener Dougie Watson.

Alister, Linden Miller and Alexander Budden took wickets for Hennessy while Nate’s three overs cost just five runs.
