The Gunnedah Junior Cricket Association handed out its 2024-25 season awards at major sponsor Club Gunnedah last Friday night.
Awards were handed out in the three age groups – U11 (JC1), U13 (JC2) and U18 (JC3) – while there were also major award winners.
Jonah Cameron was named cricketer of the year, having scored two half-centuries as he accumulated 318 runs at an average of 53 and nine wickets at 10.67, while also capturing a hat-trick.
Jonah also received the best fielder award after taking six catches, one stumping and one run-out.
Lucas Grosser was runner-up for cricketer of the year as his statistics were similar to Jonah’s, having scored 319 runs including two half-centuries, as well as taking seven wickets, five catches and one run-out.
Joe Swain was named junior cricketer of the year after winning batting and bowling awards in the U13s, having scored 222 runs at an average of 74 and taking 10 wickets at an average of 6.1
Ed Martin was named representative cricketer of the year after scoring 230 runs at an average of 57.50, six wickets at an average of 11.67, and holding two catches.
The Walters siblings also had plenty to savour, with Keaton named sportsperson of the year and Kallie named female cricketer of the year, while Marnee had the equal-best U18s bowling average.
In the U13 age group, Kallie tallied 169 runs at an average of 24.14, and snared four wickets at a cost of 22 each as well as taking four catches and a run-out.
Kallie also played for Gunnedah’s U13 representative team, and played at the Northern Inland U15 girls championship in Singleton.
Andrew Wright was named club person of the year after undertaking many tasks throughout the season.
