Liverpool Plains Shire is looking to lure more electric-powered travellers to the region with the installation of electric vehicle chargers at three locations.
Council said a comprehensive and robust EV charging network was crucial to ensuring that destinations like the Liverpool Plains could capitalise on the growing EV vehicle market.
It was hoped the EV chargers would encourage visitors to stay longer and spend more while exploring the region as EV drivers tend to plan their journeys around charging locations.
“By providing EV charging facilities, the region not only welcomes a new wave of environmentally conscious tourists but also enhances its visitor economy,” a council spokesperson said.
EV charging locations in the Liverpool Plains include Quirindi, Willow Tree and Currabubula.
The Liverpool Plains EV additions follow Gunnedah Shire Council’s announcement last year that it had applied for grant funding to install two charging stations outside The Civic. The charging infrastructure would complement two existing charging stations on Little Barber Street.
