The $53 million Gunnedah Hospital redevelopment has reached a new milestone, with the structure of the new acute services building complete and new roof installed.
The NSW government is investing $53 million in the Gunnedah Hospital redevelopment which includes construction of a new acute services building, housing an expanded emergency department as well as a modern birthing, maternity, and inpatient unit.
In the coming months work will progress on the internal fit-out and exterior works. Work is also underway around the hospital campus to install and connect new services to support the new hospital building.
Construction of the new acute services building is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
The new hospital’s design reflects the Gunnedah landscape and includes modern, calming, and welcoming spaces which have been designed in consultation with staff and the local community to support contemporary models of care.
Member of the Legislative Council and the Labor’s spokesperson for Tamworth, Anthony D’Adam said: “This redevelopment is benefiting the local economy already. To date, during this construction phase, 11 local contractors have been involved in or supporting construction of the project, as well as eight local suppliers from Gunnedah and Tamworth.”
