While the entirety of the Gunnedah Show embodies the community, the pavilions represent many works of groups and individuals in the area.

The inside of the Griffiths Pavilion will boast displays of children’s literature and artworks, cooking, preserves, the CWA exhibit, produce, handicrafts, needleworks, floral arts, and horticulture on the weekend.

Horticulture show convenor Coralie Howe said the section will receive entries on Friday morning.

While the recent rain has been concerning for all show representatives, Coralie is uncertain whether it has been a help or a hindrance to the section: “It is hard to say,” Coralie said. “[The downpour] could affect it but it could also bring some in … it has been so dry.”

She believes it might have washed out some of the competition (either from physically flooding them in or causing damage to plants) or it could have been a much-needed drenching for some thirsty flowers.

Coralie mentioned that even if downpour ruins flowers, there is also a section for small potted plants that may be of interest to people.

She hoped there will still be at least a few who can bring in extra entries to make up for any losses.

“Usually there is someone who has [plenty of] flowers,” she said.

“I try to put something in a lot of the sections, just to support them.”

There is also the option of floral arrangements which “usually has a lovely display”.

Regardless of the rain’s effect on the flower section, Coralie hoped all would be well for the sake of everyone who make the events possible.

“They put a lot of work into the show,” she said, hoping the outside events would not be affected by any lingering rain.
