Get your rods ready! The highly anticipated ‘Carp We Don’t Keepit’ carp muster is back for 2025, promising another fantastic Easter weekend of fishing, fun, and environmental action. Running over the Easter long weekend, this community event continues to grow, attracting keen anglers and families from across the region.
Proudly hosted by the Lake Keepit Family Fishing Club, ‘Carp We Don’t Keepit’ is more than just a fishing competition—it’s a major effort aimed at reducing the numbers of invasive European carp in our waterways. These pest fish degrade water quality and outcompete native species, making their removal crucial for a healthier aquatic ecosystem.
This year’s event promises exciting prize opportunities, with thousands of dollars’ worth of goods up for grabs. Participants of all ages can test their skills, with a range of categories and you don’t have to catch the most or the biggest fish to win. Everyone has a chance to be a winner. You don’t need to catch the most or the biggest fish to take home a prize—just registering gives you the chance to win fantastic giveaways. With on-the-water prizes, mystery length prizes, and mystery weight prizes, every participant has an opportunity to take something home. Whether you’re an experienced angler or trying fishing for the first time, all you have to do is register, cast a line, and enjoy the excitement of the event.
Beyond the thrill of the competition, the event offers a fantastic weekend for the whole family, with camping, and entertainment creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The impact of ‘Carp We Don’t Keepit’ extends beyond the weekend, helping to improve the health of Lake Keepit and forming friendships that last a lifetime.
Following the success of last year’s event, which saw hundreds of anglers take to the lake and remove tonnes of carp, the 2025 muster is set to be even bigger and better. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors, the event continues to make a positive impact on the region.
“We’re thrilled to bring Carp We Don’t Keepit back in 2025,” Lake Keepit Family Fishing Club president Anne Michie said.
“It’s an incredible way to enjoy fishing while actively improving the health of our waterways. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just love a great weekend outdoors, we invite everyone to join us this Easter.”
Registrations are open online via Sticky Tickets on the Facebook page ‘Carp We Don’t Keepit’ or on the day at Lake Keepit. Bring your friends, family, and fishing gear, and let’s make a difference—one carp at a time!
