Biz wins the men’s choc cake cook-off

Eleven-year-old Biz Hoddle was at his baking best to win the men’s category of the Gunnedah Show’s prestigious chocolate cake cooking competition.

The Carroll Public School student was feeling deservingly “accomplished” after beating competitors many years his senior.

It was not his first year entering the cake competition but it was his maiden win in the cake category.

Young Biz said his traditional chocolate recipe featured a “secret ingredient” which may have given him the edge in the coveted blue ribbon stakes.

Ever the competitor, however, Biz was not willing to forgo his tricks of the trade just yet, but he was willing to offer future show cake entrants his hot tip for icing the cake.

“Use a knife in hot water, it helps smooth it over,” Biz said.
