The historic Gunnedah Show has been rated another huge success by all involved.
Showgoers, convenors, exhibitors and countless more volunteers praised the running of this year’s event.
From camel races to harness races, show jumps to dog jumps, cake cooking to poultry judging, pavilions, parades and pluto pups, fireworks and more.
Show society president Kath Wilkinson was glowing of the reception received in 2025.
“After all the hard work by everyone, look what we’ve ended up with … it’s just fantastic,” Ms Wilkinson said on Saturday.

Gunnedah’s 2024 Citizen of the Year Marie Hobson officially opened the show this year, flanked by the show committee, Kevin Anderson MP and the show’s young woman competition representatives.
Mrs Hobson recalled her earliest memories of the Gunnedah Show – now in its 135th year.
“As far back as I can remember the annual Gunnedah Show has been a part of my life. I remember my parents parking the car giving us four shillings each and reminding us to be back at the car by 4pm for check in,” she said.
“Every year we would enter work from school and I couldn’t wait to get to the pavilion to see my entry on display. I also loved dogs and horses so that would take up part of my day. Just one sedate ride and some fairy floss and I was happy, my four shillings well spent.
“I also have great memories of bringing my own four children to the show where we spent many happy hours returning home after the fireworks.
The long-time Gunnedah journalist described it as an honour and a privilege to take part in the show’s official opening.
“When I became a journalist at Gunnedah’s local newspaper I was privileged to wander around with my camera and notepad capturing every aspect of the show – day and night,” Mrs Hobson said.
“This went on for more than a decade.
“When I look back through history, I am amazed at the many hundreds of people who have volunteered to keep our show alive since 1888 and I congratulate our current volunteers who have worked tirelessly to bring us the show this year.”
