David Amos has said his last goodbyes at Gunnedah Veterinary Hospital. The veterinarian handed over keys to the business three years ago and has been helping with the transition under new ownership of Chelsea Mitchell. This week David and his wife Marg were given their final farewell, complete with celebratory cake. The couple is planning more travel and family time in the months and years ahead. A detailed look back at his time involved with Gunnedah Veterinary Hospital will appear in an upcoming edition of the Gunnedah Times.
Gunnedah Shire Council has approved the transfer of $20,000 in funds for tree planting to promote koala habitat. The council was approved in 2013 to dredge, widen and realign a 2km section of Blackjack Creek Gunnedah. This came with conditions outlined by the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act. One of the requirements was for council to plant a minimum of 500 koala habitat trees in an offset area. As the first light of dawn rippled in the morning sky, hundreds of people – men, women and children – gathered at the cenotaph on Anzac Day to honour those who had served in wars across the decades. Led by RSL sub-Branch president, Anthony Adams, the reverent silence reflected the great respect held by members of the Gunnedah community. The Salvation Army’s Peter Hall spoke about the enormous sacrifice of those who had served in all conflicts and offered prayers, while Sally-Anne Hall led the singing and a short reflection.
