The Gunnedah Jockey Club is proud to present the highly anticipated Gunnedah Gold Cup 2025, taking place on Saturday May 25 at Riverside Racecourse.

This is a premier event on the regional racing calendar and promises a fantastic day of racing, style, and community spirit.

Racegoers can look forward to a full day of thrilling country racing, with the highlight being the Big Dance Qualifier — an official lead-up event to the prestigious $3 million Big Dance, held at Royal Randwick on Melbourne Cup Day.

“We’re proud to be part of the Big Dance series — it’s lifted the profile of country racing and made our Cup a true target race,” Gunnedah Jockey Club president Mark Wilkinson said.

“We have already had great interest from trainers from across the region wishing to set their horses ready for the Gunnedah Gold Cup race, due to the excellent going thanks to our recent track resurfacing.

“GJC have used the services of leading agronomists and experts in the racing industry, combined with the ongoing concerted efforts of the track manager to produce an excellent racing surface.

“This event is always a favourite on the Gunnedah calendar and we want to ensure everyone has a great day at Riverside Racecourse.

“We encourage people to start making plans — organise your tables, invite your friends and family up to come and stay for the weekend and enjoy this great event with us.”

Guests will enjoy a hot buffet lunch, cold platters and a variety of food options on course.

A full bar will be available, with TAB facilities and on-course bookmakers available for one’s punting needs.

There will be free shuttle buses running to and from the Courthouse Hotel to Riverside Racecourse for convenient transport.

Fashions on the Field will bring a splash of style and colour to the day, with generous cash and prizes for the best dressed.

Children are warmly welcomed with free entry, fun activities, and prizes for the best dressed child — making it a truly inclusive family event.
