Gunnedah had seven podium placings including three winners and a runner-up in last Saturday night’s speedway event in Narrabri.

Gunnedah’s top placegetters were Matt Cobb in the Street Stockers division, Jeremy Keynes in the Fender Benders and Clinton Hall in the Junior New Stars.

Daniel Cronin was runner-up in the Fender Benders while Gunnedah’s third placegetters were Wyatt Lawler in the Street Stockers, Sophie Partridge in the Junior New Stars and Bailey Jackson in the Junior All Stars.

More than 20 Gunnedah members took part across four divisions while other competitors came from Narrabri, Tamworth, Gilgandra, Newcastle, Lismore and Portland.

It was the second week in a row that Matt won the Street Stockers division, having done so at the Tamworth-based Oakburn Park Raceway on May 3.

Also at Tamworth, Clinton and Sophie occupied the top two spots in the Junior New Stars while Wyatt won the Fast Fours.

A spokesperson from Gunnedah Speedway Club said the Narrabri track was wet and slippery at first which made driving a challenge for the first round of heats, “but by the second round of heats it had settled into a good track for racing”.
