Police have charged three more teenagers over the alleged break and enter of a doctor’s residence attached to a medical facility in the North West last month.

Officers from Central North Police District responded to reports about 11.15pm on Thursday, June 19, of a SUV allegedly being driven erratically through the township of Walgett.

It will be alleged that upon locating the SUV officers attempted to stop the vehicle and, when the driver allegedly failed to do so, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit was terminated a short time later for safety reasons.

A short time later, the vehicle was located abandoned on Myall Street, Walgett, where it was seized for forensic examination.

Inquiries established that the vehicle had been stolen from a residential premises belonging to a medical facility on Naomi Street about 10pm that evening.

Police will allege that a doctor and sole occupant – a 73-year-old man – was inside the home when four people broke into the premises and threatened the man before leaving the location with his mobile phone, wallet and the keys to the vehicle.

Following inquiries, on Friday, June 20, police charged a 14-year-old boy in relation to the incident.

Following further inquiries, on Friday, June 27, police executed three search warrants at different locations in the Walgett area, before they arrested three teenage boys – all aged 14.

Clothing and mobile phone devices were seized to be forensically examined.

They were charged with aggravated break and enter in company steal less than or equal to $60,000, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

They were all refused bail and appeared at a children’s court on Saturday, June 28.

Man dies following Boggabilla highway crash

A man has died after a two-vehicle crash in Boggabilla

About 4pm on Tuesday, June 24, emergency services were called to the Newell Highway following reports a truck, and a car towing a caravan, had collided.

The driver of the car – a 79-year-old man – died at the scene. The passenger – a 75-year-old woman – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Moree Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the truck – a 41-year-old man – was uninjured and taken to Goondiwindi Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to New England Police District established a crime scene and the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation into the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
