From the editor: Just a short note to the community (and I’m deliberately keeping this brief otherwise I could be here for hours!) that I will be finishing up at the Gunnedah Times on November 14.

It has truly been a pleasure serving the people of the Gunnedah district – helping to keep you informed with trusted, local reporting about people, places, issues and events.

Together we have shared many memories over the years – through good times and bad – but always wearing our heart on our sleeve.

I’ve seen, heard and written about people at their worst – those facing unimaginable tragedy and seemingly impossible circumstances but who against all odds, persevere and endure.

I also remember the inspirational stories of love and hope, courage and kindness – stories which bring pure joy and happiness to all involved – this reporter included!

I arrive for the story but stay for the people because not all stories can be conveyed with words and without you, (the community), there is no Gunnedah Times.

I’m proud of this little town which adopted us ‘Queensland refugees’ about 12 short years ago and our family has no plans on moving any time soon.

As they say, it’s not goodbye, just see you later.
