The race that stops the nation had already been run and won but the celebrations continued at Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club’s November dinner meeting, with glamourous hats and fascinators on show.
The secret sweeps were purchased in envelopes and opened later in the evening – it was a surprise as to who had the top three places revealed to them.
The cardboard horse races were a tense affair as members rolled in their “steeds” on string – the first across the line winning the prize. President Kate Knight was the overall winner of the grand final. Last year’s winner Linda Lee was handicapped with a peg on her horse’s tail.
The next dinner meeting will be a celebration of Christmas in the outdoor area at Club Gunnedah. Members are asked to embrace the Christmas colours of red and green and bring a small gift for their Friend in VIEW

Liz Ironmonger, Adrienne Stubbs and Beryl Schillert.

Jeanette Hinshelwood, Marg Kelly and Sue Walker.

Deirdre Andren, Glen Jones and Elisabeth Heath.
