Three years of working for the Gunnedah Times and I have developed a favourite question: “who is in the paper?”.

Accomplishments, competitions, presentations – every time someone comes in searching for a back edition, they have a story to tell which involves someone they love.

I am fond of the moment a person opens up with such enthusiasm and care. It often leads to what is next for their loved one, and I am forever amazed.

Each week the Gunnedah Times team pushes to create something for the community and life seems to go by, not in days, but one edition at a time.

Looking back at five years of news, however, we are reminded of what we have achieved and being here in this digital climate gives us gratitude every day.

Five years on and we still love listening to your stories and placing them back in your hands.

I have watched as great editors and journalists have come and gone. They have shown us what it means to create for a community and have passion.

There have been some incredible names that have made this paper what it is. Maybe not known to all, but it has made a lasting impact here.

So, enjoy this five-year anniversary feature. Noel Browne worked hard on the front-page collage, Sam Woods on creating a look back of front pages from years gone past and Leah James contacted the first edition advertisers and many has reappeared in support.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who has made it possible for us to still be here today.
