Gunnedah High School has proudly announced that Year 9 student Fayra Petriaton has been elected to the 2026 NSW Youth Advisory Council (YAC).
The YAC comprises 12 members from across New South Wales, each selected for their passion, skills and commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
In her role on the council, Fayra will provide advice to the Minister for Youth, the Hon. Rose Jackson, and the Advocate for Children and Young People, Zoƫ Robinson, on policies and programs affecting youth across the state.
The advisory council is open to children and young people aged between 12 to 24 years in NSW.
Among responsibilities, members are expected to consult with young people, community groups and government agencies on youth issues.
This achievement represents a significant opportunity for Fayra to use her voice, engage with leaders and contribute to shaping positive change for young people in NSW.
Gunnedah High School congratulated Fayra on her accomplishment, which reflects the school’s core values of Respect, Responsibility and Doing Your Best.
