The Civic Theatre Gunnedah is gearing up for two dynamic live performances in August and September.

Golden will set the stage for an afternoon of Hollywood and Broadway’s most-loved soundtracks on Saturday 29 August.

The live music performance is a celebration of contemporary music golden hits from the award-winning creators of Christmas Actually and There’s Something About Music, starring superstar vocalists Luke Kennedy (Swing On This, The Voice Australia) and Irena Lysiuk (Your Song, Are You Lonesome Tonight) and piano virtuoso Damian Sim.

A renowned golden-haired character will come to life for Goldilocks Rocks on Wednesday 16 September.

The fun-filled, educational production for ages 4 to 11 follows the adventures of Goldi, a totally awesome young girl who is a caring neighbour, a loyal friend, and always willing to help others.

Goldi understands the importance of being aware of her surroundings and making safe choices when she’s out and about, including the valuable lesson of never talking to strangers.

She’ll have to keep her wits about her, though, because the Big Bad Wolf is a bit of a bully and has some sneaky plans in mind.

Goldilocks Rocks is coming to The Civic in September.

Gunnedah Shire Council’s economy and growth manager Susan Frater said the two upcoming performances were ideal for families and community members who enjoy the uplifting atmosphere of live shows.

“Golden is a tale of time, sweeping the audience along on a musical journey, taking in iconic music moments from much-loved films and stage shows, including My Fair Lady, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, An Officer and a Gentleman, A Star Is Born and many more,” she said.

“Adventures are in store for children in Goldilocks Rocks as Goldilocks navigates life lessons and tries to outsmart the Big Bad Wolf.

“The fun, interactive show is an effective educational tool that teaches children valuable life skills, including personal safety awareness, recognising potentially unsafe situations, and the importance of treating others with kindness and respect.”

Golden is on Saturday 29 August at 3pm. Tickets are $40 each or $35 for students.

Goldilocks Rocks is on Wednesday 16 September at 11am and 1pm. Tickets are $15 each.
