Railway Gunnabees win summer competition A-grade darts

THE Railway Gunnabees have done it again, proving a team of Gunnedah’s best and keeping the tees in the trees as that took six straight wins.

Railway Gunnabees defeated Golf Club Tees 6-0 in the A-grade grand final of Gunnedah Darts’ summer competition. Christian Hardy 100; Jack Kent 100 and 121; Blake Small 121.

In the B-grade grand final, a heavily contested grade came down to the last single, with the loud and proud Panlickers leaving the Warriors wounded.

Courthouse Panlickers defeated Railway Warriors 6-5. Gary Bartimote 119 and 121; Peter Hayes 125 and 2 x 100; Jacob Price 2 x 100; Adam Waugh 100; Peter Shoobert Jnr 100; Bruce Porter 100.

The Gunnedah Golf Club hosted a quality match in the C-grade grand final as the Bowlers made the most of their opportunities and secured victory over the home side.

Club Gunnedah Bowlers defeated Golf Club Immortals 6-3. Gary Fordham 130; Kevin Fordham 100, 132 and “180”; Andrew Cameron 100. Simon Sutherland 2 x 100; Raymond Wheeler 125.

In the D-grade grand final, Courthouse Guns took the first two triples games then an Aaron Weston single score didn’t help the Guns stay with the Steelers as they found their form taking the next six games.

Club Gunnedah Steelers defeated Courthouse Guns 6-2. John Woolaston 125 and 2 x 100; Ray Darcey 133; Greg Dean 100 and 135. Braydyn Finlay 135; Warren Beasley 115; Trey Beasley “pegged” 62.

It was a best-of-three finals series between Courthouse Dartaholics and the Railway Looneys in the E-grade grand final.

It came down to the third round with the Dartaholics winning 6-3 in their final match.

Luke Williams 100 and 112; Greg Newman 121; Shaun Morrison 125 and 132; Trevor McLean 118; Jesse Hicks 107 and 113.

Gunnedah Darts held its Doubles Championships last week in what was a small field for both A- and B-grades on Wednesday night.

The quality of darts was still high with plenty of tons, 140s, a 171, a 174 and 5 x 180s being recorded.

In A-grade there were two tight games between favourites Justin Frey and Farran Lamb versus Brandon Williams and Rick Winsor, and in the other game Andrew Kelly and Kevin Stark versus Blake Small and Braith Winsor.

It was both Justin and Farran, and Blake and Braith who would face off in the final. Highly competitive games were played with Justin and Farran proving too strong for the Blake and Braith Duo.

B-grade saw the same tight games as the top four with Ash White and Trent Winsor, Greg Dean and Bernie Donnelly, Ray Rooke and Ray Williams, and Rodney Kay and Jamie Zed arm wrestling for their spot in the final. It was Ash and Trent who would go on to face off against the Ray duo with Ash and Trent winning.
