Singles and doubles darts championships played

GUNNEDAH Darts has completed its singles and doubles championships in recent weeks.

The A-grade singles competition saw a field of 24 in the draw.

After some fantastic darts the semi-finals came down to battles between Fred Pryor and Justin Frey and Blake Small and Farran Lamb. Justin and Farran made it into the grand final with Farran edging out Justin in a close finish 3-2.

B-grade also saw a pleasing number of nominations with 20 players in the draw.

The semi-finals were fought out between John Campbell and Corey Certoma and Andrew Cameron and Mat Porter, with Corey and Andrew making their way into the grand final. Corey proved too strong for Andrew and came out the victor.

C-grade only saw a field of eight face the starter and after some close finishes Corey Matthews and Trey Beasley and Ryan Cochrane and Warren Beasley fought out the semi-finals.

The grand final came down to a match between the father and son duo of Trey and Warren, with Trey emerging the victor.

In the doubles championships, it was a small field for both A- and B-grades on Wednesday night but the quality of darts was still high with plenty of tons, 140s, a 171, a 174 and five 180s being recorded.

In A-grade, it was two tight games between favourites Justin Frey and Farran Lamb against Brandon Williams and Rick Winsor, and in the other game Andrew Kelly and Kevin Stark against Blake Small and Braith Winsor.

It was both Justin and Farran, and Blake and Braith who would face off in the final. Highly competitive games were played with Justin and Farran proving too strong for the Blake and Braith duo.

B-grade saw the same tight games as the top four Ash White and Trent Winsor, Greg Dean and Bernie Donnelly, Ray Rooke and Ray Williams, and Rodney Kay and Jamie Zed arm wrestled for their spot in the final.

It was Ash and Trent who would go on to face off against the Ray duo with Ash and Trent being victors by a narrow margin.
