Long-time Carroll resident officially becomes Australian citizen

AFTER almost six decades of calling Australia home, Carroll resident Kevan Kiellor has officially become an Australian citizen.

Mr Kiellor was welcomed as Australia’s newest citizen during a citizenship ceremony at Gunnedah Shire Council, where mayor Colleen Fuller and deputy mayor Kate McGrath congratulated him on reaching the significant milestone.

Originally from England, Mr Kiellor arrived in Australia with his family in 1967.

He grew up in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire before establishing a successful career in engineering and manufacturing.

For nearly 34 years, Mr Kiellor and his wife Maxine have called Carroll home, becoming well-known members of the local community.

Their involvement has included local sporting groups, volunteering and community organisations, while Mr Kiellor has also made a lasting contribution to Australian industry through his work at Stripes Engineering, where he has mentored numerous apprentices over the years.

Outside work, Mr Kiellor is a passionate motorcycle and vintage vehicle enthusiast and a devoted family man.

Together with his wife, he enjoys the company of their large family, which includes 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Cr Fuller congratulated Mr Kiellor on his contributions to the local community.

Now officially an Australian citizen, Mr Kiellor is looking forward to the years ahead with his family and continuing his involvement in the community he has proudly called home for more than three decades.
