THRILLING Jack Russell racing action will come to Gunnedah on Thursday evening, 20 August, as part of a new initiative of the greyhound racing club.
The races will occur during the first half of the regular greyhound meeting.
Jason Lyne, the chief operating officer for the NSW GBOTA (Greyhound Breeders Owners and Trainers Association), said the new event was an initiative by the local club, particularly Cherie Rosier.
“It’s definitely something different with AgQuip also on the same week,” he said.
“It will be great fun.”
Lyne said Rosier had been doing the hard work in rounding up the Jack Russells to race on the evening.
The action will take place on the home straight.
Organisers are hoping to be able to move the boxes part-way up the course for the event.
The champion dog will also receive a trophy.
Lyne encouraged the community to enjoy an evening at the greyhound races as well as witness the spectacle of Jack Russells taking to the track.
“If you’ve never been, come down and have a look,” Lyne said.
A canteen and bar will be available.
Families are also encouraged to attend, with free entry on offer.
The race meeting starts at 6.40pm.
