Symphony of stories for Gunnedah South Book Week parade

Gunnedah South Public School held its annual Book Week parade in August, bringing the school and local community together in a vibrant celebration of literacy and imagination.

Book Week, nationally recognised across Australia, encourages children to explore the magical world of books and reading.

Students enjoyed being part of the Book Week festivities.

The theme this year, Symphony of Stories, celebrated the harmony found in stories from diverse voices and genres, inspiring participants to appreciate the rich tapestry of literature and the many ways stories connect us all.

Students were invited to showcase their favourite book characters by wearing costumes to school, proudly displaying their creations on a parade around the school oval.

Gunnedah South Public School staff were also part of the Book Week fun.

“The Book Week parade is a wonderful way to support literacy and share a love of stories together,” said school librarian, Miss Holdom.

“It’s incredible to see the creativity our students put into their costumes, and how enthusiastically they immerse themselves in their favourite characters. This event really fosters a sense of community and encourages a lifelong love of reading.”
