The Gunnedah Day VIEW Club held its monthly meeting on 25 September, with members enjoying an interesting presentation, welcoming new members and discussing several upcoming community activities.
A highlight of the meeting was a presentation by member Anne Finnegan, who had recently returned from an overseas trip. Anne shared stories and photographs from her travels, including visits to Brazil, the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador. Members enjoyed hearing about her experiences and seeing the slides of the places she visited.

President Joan Harwood also welcomed two new members. Maureen Blackburn was presented with her VIEW badge and members’ pack, while Fran Dunn received her Day VIEW badge. Both ladies were warmly welcomed to the club.

The club also introduced a new segment inspired by the Glen Innes VIEW Club. The activity gives members an opportunity to get to know one another better, with a member answering a series of questions about their life, including where they were born and what brought them to Gunnedah. The new initiative was well received and proved to be an enjoyable way for members to share their stories.
On Sunday 4 October, the club held a sausage sizzle at Joan Harwood’s home in recognition of Anti-Poverty Week. The event supported The Smith Family and its work helping children and families experiencing disadvantage.
An afternoon tea is planned in October at the Second Edition Book Shop, while in November members will attend a Melbourne Cup Day event at the Tambar Springs Hotel.

The club recently enjoyed a successful zone gala, attended by VIEW clubs from across the area. There are 12 VIEW clubs in the zone, with nine clubs represented at the event.
A total of 76 ladies attended, including 22 members of Gunnedah Day VIEW and one visitor.
Past executive members gave talks about their experiences serving on the national executive, while the day provided a wonderful opportunity for friendship and for members to meet women from other VIEW clubs across the zone.
